Cookies policy

Due to the entry into force of the amendment to the “Information Society Services Act” (LSSICE) established by Real Decreto 13/2012, it is mandatory to obtain the express consent of the user of all web pages that use non-essential cookies, before the user browses them.

What are cookies

Cookies and other similar technologies such as local shared objects, flash cookies or pixels are tools used by web servers to store and retrieve information about their visitors, as well as to ensure the correct functioning of the site. By using these devices, the web server is allowed to remember some data concerning the user, such as their preferences for viewing the pages of that server, name and password, products that interest them most, etc.

A cookie is a small text file that is stored in your browser when you visit almost any web page. Its purpose is to enable the website to remember your visit when you browse that page again. Cookies usually store technical information, personal preferences, content customization, usage statistics, links to social networks, access to user accounts, etc. The purpose of the cookie is to adapt the content of the website to your profile and needs. Without cookies, the services offered by any website would be significantly reduced.

Cookies are harmless, they do not contain malicious or malicious code (e.g. viruses, trojans, worms, etc.) that could damage your device (computer, smartphone, tablet, etc.), but they do have a certain impact on your right to the protection of your data, as they collect certain information concerning you (browsing habits, preferences, etc.).

Cookies affected and excluded from the regulations

According to the EU directive, the cookies that require informed consent from the user are analytical cookies and advertising and affiliation cookies, with the exception of technical cookies and those necessary for the operation of the website or the provision of services expressly requested by the user.

Types of cookies

According to their purpose:

  • Technical and functional cookies: these are those that allow the user to navigate through a website, platform or application and use the different options or services that exist therein.
  • Analytical cookies: these are those that allow the person responsible for them to monitor and analyse the behaviour of the users of the websites to which they are linked. The information collected through this type of cookies is used to measure the activity of the websites, application or platform and to create navigation profiles of the users of said sites, applications and platforms, in order to introduce improvements based on the analysis of the usage data made by the users of the service.
  • Advertising cookies: these are those that allow the management, in the most efficient way possible, of the advertising spaces that, where appropriate, the editor has included on a website, application or platform from which the requested service is provided based on criteria such as the edited content or the frequency with which the advertisements are displayed.
  • Behavioural advertising cookies: these collect information about the user’s personal preferences and choices (retargeting) to enable the most efficient management of advertising spaces that the publisher may have included on a website, application or platform from which the requested service is provided.
  • Social cookies: these are set by social media platforms on the Services to enable you to share content with your friends and networks. Social media platforms have the ability to track your online activity outside the Services. This may affect the content and messages you see on other services you visit.
  • Affiliate cookies: these allow tracking of visits from other websites, with which the website establishes an affiliation contract (affiliate companies).
  • Security cookies: these store encrypted information to prevent the data stored on them from being vulnerable to malicious attacks by third parties.

According to their ownership:

  • Own cookies: these are sent to the user’s terminal equipment from a computer or domain managed by the publisher itself and from which the service requested by the user is provided.
  • Third-party cookies: these are sent to the user’s terminal equipment from a computer or domain that is not managed by the publisher, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through the cookies.

According to their retention period:

  • Session cookies: these are a type of cookie designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a web page.
  • Persistent cookies: These are a type of cookie in which the data remains stored on the terminal and can be accessed and processed for a period defined by the person responsible for the cookie, which can range from a few minutes to several years.
